Boredom is the common enemy of all artists. After years of chopping breakbeats and searching thrift stores for jazz records was I just a caricature of the typical beatmaker?

Perhaps. Ok Probably.

Conterpoint: A jazz sample chopped into an ambient loop and left to play so that you can consider it. A adl-lib vocal chop over the entire track. Vintage drum machines. A slow burn tape that you can’t appreciate by skipping thru the tracks.

Sometimes you have to do something left-field just to remind yourself that you are not boxed in that narrow definition of what can be dope. The edge is really at the point between noise and music. Both are sound. However music is noise that humans also consider to be meaningful.

We determine that definition both as listener and creator. Thus here you can be free of boredom and your limits and hopefully circle back round to the genres you love with some new tricks in your toolbelt.
